Which letters the portal sends
- a welcome after sign-up;
- a study invitation, and a notice to the inviter when it is accepted;
- a password reset link and a password change notice;
- a test letter from “System”.
How it works
Letters are sent by a background job, so pages never wait for the mail server. A failed send is retried several times; errors are listed under “System”.
Without mail configured the portal keeps working: invitation and reset links are shown on screen to copy and forward.
Configuration (server administrator)
Mail settings live in the server's .env file: EMAIL_HOST, EMAIL_PORT, EMAIL_SSL, EMAIL_USER, EMAIL_PASSWORD, EMAIL_FROM. Restart the application after a change, as the installation guide shows.
